A good taping technique is helpful, but I am convinced that the number of days you can get out of a sensor is determined by the make-up of sensor itself. We have all experienced "good" and "bad" lots. I have found in our case, sensors from the bad lots are impossible to stretch, no matter how well it is cared for and coaxed.

Today is the first time we made it to Day 8. My son began CGM (MM722) in October. Joslin gave me a mixed batch of sensors from various lot numbers, and despite my consistent taping method, good calibrations, and care of the site, the days I get out of each sensor seems almost "pre-programmed" into each sensor lot, each lot being different from other lots.

J237: Whacky numbers on Day 4, had to pull it on Day 5. Sensor bad alarm each time on Day 5 for no known reason.
G057: Whacky numbers on Day 5, had to pull it on Day 6.

G037: Fairly consistent, close readings. Got 6 full days then had to pull on Day 7 before we could recharge.

K117: The best so far. Restarted on Days 3 and 6, recharged on Day 7, currently on Day 8. Readings have been close, lows caught in the 70's (alarm set at 85). I hope the others in the lot are as good.

Does anyone else feel like their success depends upon the lot they are using?

Thanks,

Karen
