just curious what u parents try to keep your children at.i have a 7 year old girl and i try to have her wake up at 120 bs and basically try to have her pre meal readings about the same(not always successively).i bet that seems a bit high but im afraid of lows and trying to go any tighter.does that sound acceptable to u guys or are u a lot tighter?

Thats a tough one for me to answer since charlize is 5, we have a much wider gap, her endo is happy with her range 100-200, and a basic goal of 150 day and 180 night, But each kid is diffrent in how there body reacts to the insulin adn carbs.. For example.. Charlize novalog takes at least 3.5 to 4.5 hours to peak in her.. adn when it does it drops quick in her... ( at 3.5 hours post bolus she will still be over 200 bs... at 4 hours post bolus she will be 80).. SO basically, Charlize has a wider gap due to this...

Zeb is two years old, his range set by our endo is 100-180 daytime 110-200 nighttime. I prefer to let his run on the higher side because he can't tell me if he feels low and often by the time there are symptoms we can see (if any) he is already quite low (below 60 or so). I more comfortable with a bedtime check of 150 or higher, any lower and I worry all night (and check 2 or more times over the night).
Well it's late here and I gotta go check him, bedtime check tonight was only 108 so I'll be up again around 3.

We are striving for daytime target of 110 and nighttime target of 150. Unfortunately, those are not always achievable but it's a good goal to have. A target of 120 sounds quite reasonable for a 7-year old IMO!

Emma's not yet 2, so we let her run quite a bit higher. Her pre-meal "goal" is about 140-160. At bedtime I prefer her to be 180-200.
If your daughters at 120 that often she's bound to have a good A1C, and if she's not having a lot of lows because of it, I'd say your doing Great!!

Our daytime range is 80-120 and night is 180. Abby is very sensitive to insulin, thus the night change. I am most comfortable when she runs 100+ at bedtime. I find the best way to achieve a comfortable bedtime number like this is to have a protien snack for bedtime, such as peanutbutter crackers and milk.

I would say that 120 is a very reasonable goal for your child.

Our goal is 80-180 day or night. I've read [although things are different everywhere] that an adult target should be 90-130. So if you're achieving this for a child, then good for you. Hunter is 6 and his number depends mostly on just the food and activity. "Diabetes is NOT and exact science" [got that quote from our Endo. nurse who is also type 1]. I try to keep that in mind when I get a high or low. Just do the best you can and don't be crazy over it.
