With the new lancing devise I finally swallowed my fear and stuck my finger and noticed that there is a difference in readings between my fingers and my arm..My arm said I was 98, my finger said I was 140

All this time when I felt high and tested on my arm it would be in the upper 180's I am now certain I have been running higher than that after this little test :(

But I will admit using the Accu-Chek Softclix did not hurt at all so my fears are no longer there..

So for now on finger testing for me..GULP:o

We have used the SoftClix from the beginning. Even though the hospital gave us a OneTouch meter, they said the SoftClix was so much better on your fingers because its not "spring loaded". I'm glad that you were able to give it a try - it WILL get easier.

The first time I used a horrid lancing devise, I believe it was the one that came with the Precision Xtra meter I stuck my finger and proceeded to pass out cold on the floor..So this is a major accomplishment for me :o:D

That is one heck of a lancing device then.

Congrats on getting it all down!

Glad the softclix worked . I have heard that fingersticks are more current, then testing other places. I have tried my arm with different lancing devices and can never get enough blood to get a test , always get error messages , so I stick with fingers.

This is the lancet device that I got when I was first diagnosed in 1990, I called it the guillotine, hurt like all get out

I have tried some awful lancing devics also!! The early ones were horrible. I do not use a lancing device. For me it is more convienent and easier to just manually poke my fingers. I find it hurts less than any of the devices and it means less stuff to deal with. Good luck. Ali
