Last night (http://diabetes360.blogspot.com/2008/01/day-two-and-final-day-off-pump.html)was a disaster. Scary low followed by a scary high this morning. The pump's back on. Guess I'm stuck with this diabetes stuff, huh?

Yikes! I thought of you this morning and wondered how you have been doing on the switch back.....Not so good I guess! So sorry! I am battling the unhealthy aspect of the pump too....its called just beep beep beep and eat eat eat. Darn holidays!
I feel your pain, I did FINALLY get back into my workout today, which is the hard part when I am still up 3 times a night dealing with Maddison's changing basal rates and Christmas vacation from school. I hope for me the excersize will encourage the better eating habits again. I know, I wish this pump didn't make eating so easy! Whats your next tactic?

My next tactic is to never ever take my pump off again. Ever. Did I mention never?

Hmm...I think you might be repressing some feelings here. You know, it's good to let your feelings out every once in awhile.:D

Sorry it went so badly!
I've only had one SCARY low so far. (I mean, THE scary low) I hope never again, but that is probably just a dream :(

I could feel your pain as I read that. I hate those kind of lows, where you feel like even if you were to eat everything it wouldn't be enough. I have only had my pump a short while but I don't think I could ever volenterily go back to mdi... 10 years of that was enough.

It took the better part of a full day to get myself regulated again. And then I had the world's worst headache. But it's all good now.
Now if I could just figure out these random nighttime lows...
Sorry about the craziness.:( The ups and downs really do make you feel awful especially the extreme swings. It always takes me a good part of a day to recover from a scenario like you described. Is it possible that your nightime lows are related to the lows the night before or an undetected low in the day? Someone mentioned that if you have a low that forces your liver to respond then your liver will want the sugar back (that it spilled out) at some point in the next 24 hours, and those can cause an unpredictable low. I have never read about this but it sounded reasonable. Also could just be some crazy hormonal activity! Sorry. I tend to really watch myself and still run into lots of "what happened" moments even after 36 years. Ali

Pretty sure it's not an undetected low. I'm virtually certain it was a bad vial of Lantus.
