My wife and I are big fans of the NBC show "The Biggest Loser" and we decided to have a little competition ourselves. So I went to the site to register, and it asks if you have type 1 diabetes. I said yes, and it says sorry, you can't register if you have type 1. Bummer, but I can understand why they don't want us out there using their plan I guess.
As much as I love watching that show, I think the methods they use are really extreme and not very healthy. They just lose too much, too fast.
I've put on 5 pounds since Thanksgiving  Time for me to get out to the gym. My tennis league starts again tomorrow, so that will help get me back into an exercise routine, and I'm going to play soccer with a group of adults tonight (did that 2 weeks ago, which made i very apparant how out of shape I was!). It's hard, isn't it?! (And I'm not even diabetic...sorry, not sure why I was lurking here...never have before today :)).
Are you and your wife still having your competition anyways?!

I signed up to play soccer on two teams, so that's bound to help some!
That'll help...just don't blow out a knee!
I played soccer in an adult league last night (for the second time) and got crushed on the thigh by a ball. I could still see the imprint of the ball last night. Now, it's just a big bruise which hurt when I ran at tennis today!
Good luck to you on shedding those extra pounds! I'm sure the D makes it at least twice as hard!!

I am also a fan of that show. That's pretty crazy that the site doesn't let Type 1's participate... I was always curious if a type 1 could ever be cosen to go to the ranch, I guess not. I can see how it would makes sence though. Such a drastic lifestyle change, it would be hard to know what your numbers would do, your insulin requirements would be changing daily as your body goes through all those changes.

So far Emmasmom has lost 6 pounds, and I have only lost 4. Of course, I'm lifting weights which adds muscle weight, so that's not really fair, right :p?

Good job you two! Hubby and I are doing the same thing. I think that it is great for a family to support each other in a healthier lifestyle. Have fun, let us know how it goes.
