While we were at my Mom's for Christmas we stopped to see my Grandmother. We were only supposed to be there for a few minutes so I didn't grab the novolog on the way out the door.

Anyway, the minute we get there Grandma starts plying the kids with candy and cookies. Devin keeps saying no thank you (gotta love her!), but Grandma is very persistent:

Gma: Here, have some hot cocoa
Devin: No thanks
Gma: How about some juice?
Devin: No thanks.
Gma: I have lots of cookies
Devin: Well, I could take one home.....
Gma: Well, what about a candy cane, that's pretty small.
Devin: That has a lot of sugar, so maybe not right now.
Gma: (looking in the fridge) Oh, I know, would you like some pop?
Devin: :eek: REGULAR POP??? ARE YOU KIDDING!!!!

Devin was trying to be so polite, but that last one really floored her. The look on her face was so funny.

I love the way some elderly people think they aren't entertaining properly unless they are serving you food and drinks. They love to see their guests well fed and watered. Devin did so well to refuse the food, but maybe taking just one thing to eat would have kept Grandma happy :)

We actually went over to pick my Grandma up and bring her back to my Mom's for dinner. I mistakenly thought Devin could just take whatever she offered and bring it back--I should have known better though!

I love it. You can see how patient she's being, and then she finally just runs out. (WIth good reason!)
