Aruba, Jamacia, oh I wanna take ya....

So, guess what I got for Christmas -- a trip to Aruba !!!! :cool:

It's only for 3 days, but considering we've never gone away overnight since diagnosis, it will long enough.

When my husband told me not to get him anything for Christmas because his gift was "enough for both of us" I had no idea. I thought he bought a new TV!

Our dear friends (with whom we've been trading babysitting services) will take the kids and off we go...

I'm definitely nervous about leaving the boys, but it's not until the end of March, so we have plenty of time to prepare our friends for their care. And to prepare ourselves for leaving them.

The boys are clearly miffed at being left behind, but they will get over it.

I just had to share, because, while everyone I know is excited for us, you guys will get it on a completely different level.

Now I've just got to get ready to wear a swimsuit :eek::eek::eek:

Congrats!!! we were just in Aruba in Oct on our cruise. If you want to see the island, I have a name and email of a highly recommended driver. (actually 2 of them. we used Marco since there were 19 of us, and Bully is the other person but he can only take up to 5 people). I will happy to giv eyou the info if you want it.

I loved Aruba. I will be happy to tell you what was good and not so good to do if you want.. Just PM me.

And, yes, Wendy, I will put you down as an emergency back up. You never know what's going to happen, and it would be one more level of security knowing that another good parent was out there to help.

We are lucky in that two of our three school nurses live in our town, too, and they are constantly offering to help us. I am going to check and see if either of them are around that weekend, too.

woohoo! I hope it's fantastic, fun, and relaxing, and that everything goes smoothly back at home. When you have care that you can trust, I think it is a fabulous thing to get away from D for a bit. Have fun. :D
