I took off my pump this evening and shot up a big old dose of Lantus. I know it's going to be a lot of work, but I am hoping that a shift to MDI for a while will force me to eat less and focus more on accurate carb-counting.

Good luck! I'm considering doing this this summer, but kinda leaning toward not.

I've thought about doing that but I wouldn't know how to ask my mom. I don't think she would understand why I would want to do that.

Kelton wanted a break away from his pump and I let him do it..Now he never wants to go back to it..He is doing better on Lantus/Novolog. He has been off of the pump for a year now and loves the freedom.

I did MDI for a few days a while back, and then decided to keep some of the lantus when I came back to the pump. It's just so much easier to dose for meals and corrections with my pump than the syringes, but I've always had great results with lantus as my basal insulin. I had to REALLY stick to specific carb amounts with meals in order to get a whole or half unit amount in a syringe. It sure did feel nice to go out without having to carry around all the extra stuff, though...

I hope it goes well for you! Good Luck!
