I am sure this has been a topic; however, I am so confused on what to do. We want to get a CGM but we have been waiting AND waiting for the Navigator. Everyone who has had experience with it, says it is worth the wait but come on.....how much longer. My son uses the Cozmo insulin pump. IS the Dexcom our only option? Should we wait for the Navigator???

I am just at a loss and any help would be great.

Dexcom is an option and so is the Guardian from Minimed. I think you can't go wrong with either. They only have a one year warranty (I think) so my figuring is that I will have to replace sometime in the near future, so it isn't like I won't have options down the line. It isn't like getting into a 4 year warranty with the pump.

It is technology that is worth using now, in my oppinion. :)

Dexcom has a comfort advantage... the Transmitter doesn't rub on your skin the way that Minimed's does. Most MM people use a protective tape to reduce the effects, but the tape itself isn't so nice either. Some people find Dexcom more accurate, and the Transmitter doesn't need recharging.

ON THE OTHER HAND :D,
Minimed is approved for children Hunter's age, while Dexcom is only approved for adults. (That's a big problem for Insurance coverage of the Dexcom!) And Dexcom Sensors cost $60 each, while Minimed's only cost $35.

Dexcom isn't making the old $35 Sensors anymore, and I've only got 9 of the cheap ones left. :(

You may have better luck with one or the other. The ONLY way to know which one works better is to try both! Get "loaners" arranged by your Endo, and wear them both for a couple weeks. (Wear them at the same time, not one-after-the-other.)
