She had high ketones and high BGs last night. It took a correction by syringe and lots of testing of BGs and Ketones last night - so I'm exhausted.
She still had ketones this AM - but I'm pretty certain they are starvation ketones because she has a little bug. This happened last time she got a little bug and we fought ketones for about 5 days.
She does have a low grade fever - about 99.5 in her ear (which of course means just over 100). But she's running around making a ruckus and of course, running me ragged.
Would this child PLEASE just act sick if she's gonna be sick so we can ALL get some rest! :)
Well, I am sorry she is sick but relieved that it isn't the pump!!! Hope she zonks out soon so you can get some rest...even though the likelihood of that is nill.

I'm still gonna watch the pump because that entire situation was weird but I am thinking its the bug.
This child doesn't act sick when she's sick, doesn't act high when she's high or low when she's low - she has two speeds: running and asleep.

I know what you mean! Some kids are so resiliant. Maddison too never acts sick, even with strep throat, ear infections. Then finally one day she will say "my throat does hurt I guess"

Nancy, I remember this one well as we went through it together. Sending Emma get-well and slow-down wishes and hoping you get some sleep!

Try having one that doesn't feel pain.
We missed a strep infection once because he never told us that his throat hurt. So, we're on vacation in Hawaii and my wife starts to put sunscreen on him (we were living in Alaska at the time. It was a lot of sunscreen. ;)) and she says to me, "He's got a red rash all over his back." There was an Internet cafe right there next to the beach and while the boys body surfed, she went to look up the rash. She finds a picture online and comes and tells me that it's scarlet fever!!! So we call the big pink Navy hospital and tell them we think he has scarlet fever. The nurse asked what he was doing and my wife said "Playing in the ocean with his brother." And the nurse said, "If he had scarlet fever, he wouldn't be running around." We took him the emergency room, the doc walked in, took one look and said "It's scarlet fever." So he got two big injections, one in each butt cheek, at the same time. He wasn't happy about that.
He complained about the shots, but never about his throat or anything else.
Then there was the time he broke his arm at school and didn't ask to go to the nurse for 2 hours...

Ugh - that's tough. My middle child never spiked a fever or complained of ear pain with an ear infection. But, by the time he would have one, they would be raging in BOTH ears because they had been neglected so long!

This is another example of me being so impressed with you parents of little ones who have this stupid disease. Zach was 10 when he was diagnosed and wanted as much independence as he could get as fast as he could get it.
Nancy, you and everyone else in a similar situation have my undying admiration.

I second that!
